Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou, the oldest of four siblings was born on August 8, 1976 in Beaumont Puy-de Domme. Her parents, a dentist along with a teacher, recognized and supported her interest in theater and acting since her early years, which overcame her initial ambition to be a primatologist due to her fascination with monkeys. As a young woman, her rise to stardom was quick and filled with the beginning of her recognition and success. Following her graduation and completing her studies, she took part in the French talent-scouting TV program Jeunes Premiers. She was awarded best young Actress in the Beziers Festival of Young Actors in the year 2000 and began her career as an actress. Tautou studied at in the Institut Catholique de Paris, and she attended church as an infant. She has since removed herself from this history. She has stated that she is not necessarily Catholic. In addition to acting, she did modeling, and was the face of L'Oreal Mont Blanc as well as Chanel. The photography of her is also a passion and she recently exhibited her work at the Arles festival with the title Superficial. In her photographs, she is particularly focused on celebrities and fame. Cameras are focused at journalists who have been scrutinising the actress following her sudden popularity. Audrey Tautou became a star and was recognized internationally for her role debut as Amelie Poulain from Le Fabuleux Destination d'Amelie. Amelie was a box office triumph, and was lauded in award ceremonies all over the globe. It is the most successful French language film to be released in the US. Following this success Tautou starred in an array of movies ranging from British films like Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things to Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Un long dimanche de fiancailles, and then he moved into Hollywood with Ron Howard's direction of the Dan Brown bestseller The Da Vinci Code together with Tom Hanks.
